My New Goal

Several months ago I set a goal with my sister. We were going to do the Ogden Valley Triathlon! She loaned me this book to read. Do you think it has a hidden message within the title?

We spent hours and hours biking, swimming and running/strength training. But, alas, I received a devastating e-mail that said the triathlon has been cancelled for this year. My slow, fat, triathlon butt is very disappointed. I had come so far. I no longer had to do the back float in the beginning, middle and end of my swim. My hair was beginning to flap in the wind as I got faster and faster on my husband's old bike. I had even decided that running wasn't so bad if I only had to do it twice a week. Whatever shall I do? Oreo, anyone?

Dirt and Movies. Can't Beat It!

Drive-in movies have been a favorite Haun past time. Every summer we find at least one evening to drive downtown, sit in the dirt, eat lots of crap, and watch a movie that we can only usually hear half of. It is awesome. This year we took along some friends.

Aeva, has caught on quickly. She can see the fun in our annual tradition.

Hopping from one car to the next is also a big part of the event. All cars must be "tested" for drive-in worthiness. The requirements are:
1 - some sort of place to sit (even if it is inside the spare tire)
2 - a large variety of junk food
3 - other cute little kids to play with.
I am pleased to say that all of the cars passed.

We still have to talk to Maddie about sitting in the back of a car with a "boy." I am hoping to put that conversation off for a few more years. At least we have little Aeva to chaparone.

Baseball Games

Well, the T-ball, Coach-pitch season has come to an end. We have had a wonderful time trying to figure out which way to run, when to drop the bat, and how to dodge the ball when it is coming at your face. All in all, a successful season. We had a #1 fan that attended each and every game faithfully...

Half way through the season she decided that she too would need to wear a baseball cap. I couldn't possibly tell her no. It was one of the many highlights.

Here are the two all-star players. "They done good."

Aeva is 2!

Little Ms. Aeva is 2. It happened in July so it is obvious that I am a bit behind the times. Still something worth blogging about. Troy spent several minutes teaching her how to blow out a flame. This would be important for the candle blowing later on that day. She got quite good at it.

Here she is showing off her new skill. She did it beautifully. No one even suspected that we had been coaching her. A natural actress. The occasion also gave us the opportunity to buy a "wall of chocolate" from Costco. It took us through 2 whole families and there were still left overs! Aeva didn't even care that she had to blow out candles on the same cake over and over. That is one of the beauties of having a two year old. A five year old may have had issues with this.

Underoos for her birthday. I guess that means I am in for a little potty training. I was pretty gung-ho with Maddie and Gracie. I am less excited the third time around. Maybe we'll just wait a few more months until I get my energy level up.

Grandpa and Grandma set up the play set in the back yard for a little post-party fun. The girls had a good time.

Happy Birthday, Aeva!

Salmon River Trip

So, not to bore you all with more details of our river trip BUT...gotta do it. I have too many pictures to not post them. Here goes...in random order of course.

Here we have Grandma Rett hangin out with the chumps. She would not condone (questionable spelling on that one) me putting this picture on my blog but, that is the bonus of this being MY blog. Love you, mom.

A small amount of relaxation is always in order.

Troy likes to do his relaxing on the opposite side of the table in more of a "slouched" position. All of our relaxing has totally exhausted him.

Nice to have cousins. You can love them, sit on them, and then send them back home.

Cammie, is the designated hair stylist for all camping trips.

The girls swimming in a little lake we found while out and about. I will have to admit that we probably annoyed a few local fishermen as we skied past them. Oh well, fish doesn't taste that great anyway. Have a steak!

Our first day on the raft. I am trying to look like Gilligan. Looks like it worked.

Apparently my children have never husked corn. This was a first. What kind of mother am I?

Another group shot.

I thought this would be an appropriate time to teach my girls how to eat grass. You know, when in Rome...this is what people do in Idaho.

Hangin out by the fire. Apparently Aeva's smore was sour???

Goin for a ride on the wheeler. I am not sure if it is better to get a head injury from not wearing a helmet or a neck injury from trying to hold the helmet up. We opted for the neck injury.
