Maddie's Faith in God Award

Maddie turns 12 in December. That means that she will be moving into the Young Women's program (with me!). It also meant that it was time to finish up her Faith in God. Maddie has worked hard on her award for the last several years. I have seen her become an amazing young woman with honesty, kindness and compassion for those around her.  They presented her with her award in Sacrament meeting last week.

She told Troy that the Logan temple was one of her favorites.  They gave her a picture of the temple as a reward for completing the program.

One of the final steps to complete the program is to write your testimony.  I hope that her testimony touches others and helps them know that they are loved and that there is a reason why we are here.

What a powerful testimony of knowledge that so many people lack!  I am so proud of you, Maddie.  You are an example to all of those around you.  I see your sisters as they look up to you.  They learn from the things that you say and do.  They are gaining their own testimonies because of your example.  I too know that your Heavenly Father loves you and is proud of what you have accomplished.  I thank him daily for the opportunity that I have to be your mom.  I couldn't ask for anything more.  You teach me how to be patient and loving.  You are dedicated and committed in everything that you do.  I will do everything I can to keep you on the right path so that we can be together forever.  I can't imagine my life without my family.  Keep working hard in all that you do.

We love you!

Aeva's First 100%

Aeva is in first grade and took her first spelling test.

I think we are off to a pretty good start!  Good job, Ms. Aeva!

6th Grade Science Day

Just a little observation...Maddie is getting WAY too big. Where does the time go?

The 6th grade had a Science Day and I went over to help. They put me in with the firemen. How could I object? Men in uniforms? Ok, if I must.

They let the kids use their night cameras that can see in the dark and detect heat.  The kids loved seeing their fingerprints, footprints and yes...butt prints all over the benches.

Then they got to try on some of the gear.  Hannah just finished doing a cartwheel in the 20 pound uniform.  Funny.

I think Maddie would make an awesome firewoman.  However, she might need some longer shorts.  This is too close to a flasher look for me.

That tank is pretty heavy.  Makes me glad that all I ever have to lift is a stethoscope.

Thanks 6th grade teachers!  You make school an amazing and fun place to learn.

Grandma Hazel

My Grandma Hazel had to have a heart ablation.
We are happy that she did well and is now home and feeling better.

This picture makes me happy that I have 3 little girls.
When I am 88, I know they will come and take care of me!

Sock Curls

My girls are constantly asking me to curl their hair. I don't mind curling but when you have three heads of hair...it takes more than a minute or two.  We found a video that showed how to do sock curls.  We decided to give it a try.

Troy might need to buy some new church socks because they actually turned out quite well.  Not sure why I didn't take a picture the next day.  I'll do better next time.

Boxes and Mazes

Gracie has some amazing friends.  They often do the silliest things and have the most fun doing it.

Can they get any cuter?

Once you are done with the box, you turn it into a maze for your hamster.

Cardboard is a fantastic toy.

A New Calling

I have been officially called as the 2nd counselor in the Young Women's in my ward.  We had our first class activity and worked on Personal Progress.  At the end of the activity, I received these pictures on my phone.

Apparently while I was being quite focused on our objective, the girls were having fun with their phones.

Go Beehives!

Juanito Bandito

Troy and I went to a play at the Pickleville Playhouse up by Bear Lake. We loved the play and decided to bring our girls back the following week so they could see it too.  The play was called, Juanito Bandito Rides Again.  Pretty funny story and the main character, Juanito, was hilarious.  The girls liked him too.  In fact, they had me buy them mustaches during the intermission so they could look like him.

We snagged him after the show for a family pic.

Grandma and Grandpa went to the play too.  Then we headed back to their trailer for some Uno and popcorn.

The next morning, Grandpa and Grandma made us breakfast.  Breakfast with them is never just breakfast.  My girls always get a bit spoiled.  You can see from the order sheet below that the grandparents go WAY above and beyond what I ever do for breakfast.

As you can see, you can pick a flavor for all of your Minney Mouse pancake features.

Here are the results.

Gracie - brown bow, brown eyes, brown nose, orange mouth.

Aeva - brown bow, orange eyes, brown nose, orange mouth.

Maddie - orange bow, brown eyes, brown nose, orange mouth.

WOW.  Thanks Grandpa and Grandma...you saved them from having plain old circles.  That's my personal specialty - plain circles.  If they are lucky, they get syrup :).

After breakfast, it was off to the craft department.

Grandma is fantastic at having little crafts for them to do.  By the end, we had 9 different bracelets.

Then the pipe cleaners showed up.  Aeva's interpretation of a bug...or an alien?

That afternoon we headed down to the lake for some Hobo dinners.  I LOVE a good hobo dinner.  I should make them more often!

It was a bit chilly for the first half of our lunch.

Then the sun started to shine and the "self lighting" briquettes were brought out for our s'more feast.

How many matches should it take to burn "self-lighting" briquettes?  It took a whole box...and they still didn't light.  No s'mores for us...at least not until we got back to the trailer and cooked them in the microwave :).

This is our little Juanita Bandita the next morning.  Her mustache was a little crooked from a good nights sleep.

Thanks for a fantastic weekend, everyone!  We hope to be back very soon!

The Cherries and the Dragons

Soccer has started once again for Ms. Aeva.  Her soccer is yet to be year round and she waits and waits for the day when it is HER turn to have a game.  Troy is her coach this year.  During their first practice they decided to think of a team name.  They didn't have their uniforms yet but Aeva thought they should be The Cherries.  Troy told her that if the uniforms were red, that would be a good name.  What were the odds that the uniforms would be red anyway?

Red it was.  Keep in mind that this is a co-ed team.  All the girls loved the name Cherries.  All the boys...not so much.

The boys decided they should be called the Dragons.

What to do?  Fans weren't sure what to call them.

In the end, I think I have decided to call them the Cherry Dragons.  Diplomatic, right?

Everyone seems to be getting on just fine with a variety of names.  In fact, as long as the treat shows up at the end of the game, we can call them about anything we want.

Crazy 8's

Soccer is still in full swing at the Haun House.  Aeva got her latest uniform...seems like there is a popular number at our house.

Might have to start calling them the Crazy 8's.

A Sunday Surprise

Grandpa Gordon and Grandma Carole surprised us by having Sunday dinner up at the nature center. After we ate, Grandpa announced that he had a scavenger hunt for all of us to do.

Grandpa had come up to the nature center earlier that day and taken pictures of objects that he saw along the pathway.  The kids had to go and see if they could find the same objects and mark them off their paper.  My kids LOVE scavenger hunts.

They also got a bag to pick up any garbage that they might find along the way.

Off they went.

Danny isn't sure what he is looking at but Aeva is quite focused on her next object.

We couldn't find this on our scavenger hunt paper but it was a random lady walking around in a unitard type halter top and shorts.  Ohhhhh...how I wish certain things didn't come back "in style."
