Dave's Bigfoot Show 2011

I have officially attended my second Dave's Bigfoot Show. For me, it's all about the setting and the experiences that people share. I do wonder why 90% of the time Bigfoot only seems to visit people that don't have teeth or aren't sure how to use proper grammar. It would give Bigfoot more credit if he would visit a wide variety of people.

Anyhoo, if you're not a believer, at the very least you'll be entertained. My favorite part this year was listening to the researcher and also the recorded Sasquatch "call" that they had recorded. Cool stuff.

This year the world's most famous Sasquatch researcher, Jeff Meldrum, came to the show. These are all of his Bigfoot casts. All of them supposedly taken from real Bigfoot prints in the wild. Pretty interesting to hear him talk. Also pretty interesting to see him sell almost all of these (plus all the extras in the box behind him) for $30 a piece.

His book.

The Bigfoot statue.

and to top it off...a barrel full of something that is supposed to smell like a Bigfoot. I didn't get too big a whiff. Smelled like fruit to me. Everyone that got close didn't seem to think it smelled too good though. Lots of gagging and nose plugging. Funny stuff.

Here's to another year of Bigfoot!

Wee Weber Cheer

Girls just finished a cheer clinic at Weber High School. They had a blast (despite their mother's dismay and complete inability to help them. Cheerleading was never my "thing." After all, any girl should know how to kick a soccer ball and kick it well. That is the first sign of a girl who can keep control of any and every boy. A top priority for any mother and father of three girls).

Nevertheless, pictures and video were taken. Must document for posterity sake (and to convince them that soccer is better).

Grandpa Haun was up at the hospital. We went to visit him right before their performance. The masks and gloves add to any cheerleading uniform.

My old school. Forever a Warrior (unless you're married to a Tiger...then all offspring are automatically considered Tiger Warriors)!

Cute girls. May their destinies change quickly!
Soccer! Soccer!

Chik-fil-a

Aeva has a new favorite restaurant and it isn't because of the food.

As soon as she figured out that they handed out balloons, she was converted.  Chick-fil-a has some smart marketing people.  A little blue balloon goes a long way for this little girl.

Famous

My niece, Darby, made the local paper without even trying. This picture is from her karate days.
Must be hard being so famous.

Anderson Cove 2011

The Hansen side of our family heads up to Montana every year. This year...seems everyone has gotten busy. We decided we had better stick close to home or no one would get to go anywhere. Where better than Anderson Cove? I may be addicted to this idea...closer to home = less packing, less gas, possibility of slipping home every day or two for a real shower and reapplication of deodorant. AND I'm not missing out on much. Still get a campfire, smores, boating, dutch oven food and time with my family. The one down side is that you can't simply hop on your 4 wheelers and drive around the mountain. Guess you gotta give something up for the conveniences of home. So, anyway, here are the highlights. Can you guess our favorite activity???

My first time night boating. I think it is illegal - but OH SO FUN!

These two are very serious tubers.

Can you see the two thumbs pointing down? They are telling us to slow down. If you look at the water around them (and the fact that the rope is hanging limp in the water) you will be able to see that we aren't even moving. Funny kids.

Boating was the definite highlight. 5 days straight and we still had to pull them out of the water at the end. I hope Grandpa Ken likes boating because his grandkids are hooked!

Calling all Sushi Lovers

Despite my previous denials...I think I like sushi?! It has been a 6 month process of trial and error but I can definitely say that I like CERTAIN kinds of sushi. There are still many that I have yet to try but I am on my way. I was always told that you were mature and well cultured if you ate sushi. Maybe this will be my way in with all of the mature, well mannered adults.

But, probably not.

Me and maturity have never gotten along. Long live immature sushi eaters!

p.s. -- If anyone goes for sushi, Troy and I expect a call!

Chicago

Troy got to go to Chicago as a work trip.

This is his friend, Brent.  Awesome to work with people you enjoy being around.

They made it to a Chicago Cubs game.  I think this was Troy's first time there.

My souvenir.  How is that there are no pictures of Troy in this post about his trip?  Go figure.
