Jalapeno Burn - Who Knew?

Anyone out there know that Jalapeno's can burn you? Not me...not even a clue.

My loving cousin gave me his recipe for Jalapeno Poppers and off I went.  I bought some shiny little green jalapenos, cut em, washed em and stuffed em.  About 3 hours later, my left thumb was on fire!  I thought I had developed diabetic neuropathy in 3 hours and I am NOT a diabetic.  Very concerning...and painful!  Took me a few minutes to figure out what I had done to my poor finger.  Could it have been the jalapenos?  Sure enough.  Then I had to hop on the internet to see how to fix it.  This seemed to work the best.  A nice bowl of cold milk.  The internet said that the milk has enzymes that break down the acid in the jalapenos that causes the skin to burn.
Sounded good to me.  Time for a swim, Mr. Thumb.

Too bad I couldn't sleep with my finger in the bowl.  It felt good until I had to take it out.  I think I will stop cooking from here on out.  Sorry family...I'm obviously allergic.

Our Long Lost Cousin

Brandon went on a business trip and decided to take a detour to see our cousin. We haven't seen him in a REALLY long time.  Brandon is awesome at making people feel special.

I think he made Cousin Casey's week just by stopping by to say hi and give him a hug.
Well done, Bro.  You make me proud.

Flower Power

Are these things back in style?

Sorry, I can't do it.  A little to frilly for my liking.  Besides, who wants to look like they sprouted flowers out of their head?  Maybe a single flower behind the ear...Hawaiian style.  That I can live with because it comes with a beach, a luau and the ocean!

Babysitting

The girls are finally old enough that they get to do some babysitting.

These girls are going to make some amazing moms one day...
one very, very far day away from today!

Spa Night

We decided we needed a Spa Night.  It's the only way I could think of to TRY and get rid of the 900 bottles of nail polish that we seem to have collected over the years.

So, we gathered our polish, our swabs, our remover and our friends of an amazing night of pampering.

The final results.

Total cuteness!

Famous Volleyball Players

The Skyhawk Volleyball team made the local paper.

Way to go, Maddie.  So proud of you!

2nd Grade Valentine's Party

Embark - New Beginnings 2015

The youth theme for this year is:
“Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day” (D&C 4:2).

What an awesome scripture to remind us of the importance of serving God by serving those around us.

We kicked off our year with a New Beginnings Cruise on the ship H.M.M.S. - Heart, Might, Mind and Strength.  We stopped at all of the Value Ports during our cruise and heard about the importance of each value.  We ended the night with some amazing food and decorations.  The youth are truly blessed to have some amazingly creative leaders (I'm not one of them.  My creativity fell of the truck at some point) that make all of this happen.

Looking forward to another year with the youth.
Let us all EMBARK in the service of those around us!

Grandma Brandon

These pictures are priceless. My brother, Brandon, is a person that loves to make others laugh. The fact that pictures could be used as sabotage against him doesn't even cross his mind. That means that his sister, Tiffanie, gets to have a lot of fun at his expense.

So before we assume that he likes to walk around in grandmas robe and wig...we will clarify the situation.

Brandon was getting ready to hop in the shower when he heard voices in the house (he thought he was there alone).  The only article of clothing in the bathroom was Grandma Hazel's robe.  So he threw it on to see who was in the house.  He found my mom and aunt Holly.

Then he decided that since he was walking around in Grandma's robe he may as well throw on her wig too.  Ta da...the final product.

He is looking fairly confident don't you think?
He might be buying himself a wig...he's never had that much hair.
Extra hair = manliness?

Panthers

Aeva has been waiting for the day that she got to play indoor soccer.

Time to get runnin, little Aeva!

We are blessed.

Everything Sweet

Gracie loves to bake anything sweet. If something isn't sweet, she will make it sweet.
Thus, the logical ending to regular pancakes is...chocolate chip pancakes.

Chocolate makes everything better.

Hair and more Hair

Garrett has more hair than anyone I know. He recently decided to "postpone a haircut" for several months.  One night he showed up at my house wearing a headband that his mom had put on him.
She is not a fan of his long hair.

I decided I would add to the headband by making his curls more "defined".

Wow...I am talented.

Needless to say, he has since cut his lovely locks.
Guess I will have to go back to curling my girls hair.

Aeva's Dragon

Our budding artist.

Beauty and the Beast

For Christmas, we game mom and Holly tickets to the Broadway play Beauty and the Beast.

Looks like they survived a girls night out.
