Puerto Penasco - Spring Break 2017

We decided to head to Mexico for Spring Break...what an AWESOME decision it was!

We jumped in the cars and started the 14 hour drive to our final destination...Puerto Penasco!

Hit Hoover Dam on the way by...

Stopped in Kingsman for dinner and some sleep.  Thai food anyone?  Probably not our best decision but we didn't starve.

Elvis was painted on the outside of the building.

Cool train monument in Kingsman.

Day 2...going into Mexico!

The drive was incredible!  All of the desert flowers were in bloom.

Not sure why but the Ranger guy at the pitstop was pretty excited about these little fish.  I decided I had better take a picture just in case they really ended up being cool when I looked them up on Google.

After the beautiful drive, we pulled in to our destination for the next 5 days...Puerto Penasco.  Beach, sun, water and relaxation!

We stayed at the resort for dinner that night.  Zac went outside for a quiet moment before dinner.  It was funny that Ms. Aeva decided to follow him.  Sorry, Zac, no down time for you!

The next morning they were out in the water first thing!

We pulled them out of the water for lunch.  Scrumptious Mexican food.

Within minutes of arriving back at the resort, they were back at it.  Hermit crab farms were created, destroyed and recreated .

Here we have all of the hermit crab farm workers.  It takes hours and hours to get it perfect.

After my trip to the store.  Grocery list didn't work out too good.  You buy what you can find that you think your kids will eat.  What can I make with cereal, Prego, licorice and crackers???

That afternoon we hit the local market for some shopping, lunch and ice cream!

This weird guy was at lunch.  He would hit his drum and turn in circles.  What's he supposed to be?  No clue.

Sperm whale skeleton?  Should have taken a pic of the sign.  Either way, here we have my adorable family in front of whale bones.  Definitely worth documenting for our posterity.

For a panoramic challenge we had the girls stand at one end of the whale and then run behind me holding the camera and get to the other side of the whale before I could pan over.  The result...Aeva sliding into position at the last moment and a very cool picture with them in it not once but...TWICE!

So, any guesses what we did after that?  Yep, back to the beach!

Ethan's hair by this point had become "full of body".

Next day...back to the market for some pics.

Sand volleyball.  We found out the next day that the guy in the black tank top on the left is an Olympic volleyball player and played in the Rio Olympics in 2016!  We may be famous just for playing with him!

A few of the fisherman in the group decided to go out for some deep sea fishing.  After a few hours they had more than enough fish.  In fact, they took one or two and left the rest behind for the fishermen to use.  So glad I didn't have to put a nasty fish in my fridge!

Mermaid day...

Our final night in Mexico...beautiful and sad.

These kids had a blast!

We stopped in Mesquite/St. George on our way home for an extra day of fun.  My co-workers from Midtown were running the Ragnar So. Cal race this same weekend.  We had a bagel, peanut butter and banana breakfast in their honor.

St. George with cousins and friends.

Troy after a week in Mexico.

Opening Kinder eggs.  Scrumptious!

Picnic on the red rocks.

Love, love, love Spring Break.  Where can we go now???
