Sunshine!

MOAB!!!

We love Moab! Sunshine is the reason why we torture ourselves all winter. We run and run (or pretend to run and run) all winter long so that we can be ready for the Moab race every spring. It gives us an excuse to pack up the chumps and head toward the sun. By mid-March we can always use a few more freckles. I realize that these pictures would be better in a slide show of some sort but that would require technical ability that I do not possess. Hope you know how to use your scroll bar!

Dead Horse Point:

WOW! Now that is an amazing view.

It is pretty windy at the top of Moab. Kati and I tried to look beautiful despite the trying conditions.

Arches National Park:
Gracie inpersonating "Mr. Incredible."

The whole group standing underneath Pine Tree Arch.

Running down the sandy hill.

Aeva figured out that the backpack can be much less work for her little legs.

Daddy can also serve as an alternative mode of transportation.

This is our tour guide. Her name is Grandma Rett.

The girls coming out of the sandwich cave (a made up name of course). They were trying to convince us that there is no such thing as a Sand Witch.

They made it to the top of a 3 foot boulder. Quite an accomplishment (especially if you are only 2 feet tall).

Race Day:

The girls get to play at the park while we run ourselves to death. Again, totally worth it!

Aeva, remembering what it feels like to go down the slide. Last summer she was too little to do it by herself.

Kati had her personal best. Good work!

Sand Witches

Have a look at this You Tube clip of Maddie and Gracie.

While visiting Arches National Park (near our Moab Half-Marathon), the adults began teasing these innocent girls about the existence of 'Sand Witches' (sandwiches... get it) hiding in the nooks and crannies of the park. This clip takes place about an hour after the first 'teasing'. Notice the three dirty looks on this 30 second video.

These girls have had enough..... It is fun to have children who are good sports who you can tease constantly....

Party Pants

So, once again we had a few friends over for a little food/Wii combo. Our first guest showed up in his "party pants." Not sure what to call them but they looked a lot like fruit roll up type material and they even made noise as he walked. It was a definite highlight of the evening (especially when he sat on the leather couches or went up and down stairs). I couldn't resist adding a few photos for you to enjoy.

Make sure you notice the light reflecting off of the pants and the proud expression of his wife in the background. Priceless.

This one is a bit blurry (not sure why my camera doesn't work as well since we dropped in on the concrete at Disneyland). Nevertheless, I didn't want you to miss out on the side shot. True rocker style.

Once again, slightly blurry. Maybe it gives it that romantic feel that so many photographers are after. I should lend them my camera. Anyway, this is Aimee rockin out as our lead singer.

This is Zac (Aimee's husband - don't want any single girls calling for phone numbers. All involved are happily married at present time) looking rather cool. This is before he actually started playing the drums.

The concentration has begun. In fact, I noticed that tongues were prodruding on a lot of my Wii photos. There must be a link between the tongue and a persons musical talent. The more tongue you see, the more concentration is required.

MOAB or Bust!

So the Haun family is headed to Moab! It is our annual "pretend to be in shape" run. We are looking forward to lots of sun, playing w/ the kids, hiking, swimming and a few sore muscles when it is all over. I have posted some pictures from our past trips for you to enjoy until we return. I wish I could make them bigger without losing the clarity of the image. Sorry, I am a little challenged when it comes to that kind of stuff. Hope you can still see them.

This is the view from our hotel room. We absolutely love it. Reasonable price w/ a view!

This is me driving our dune buggy on a few of the local sand dunes. I am awesome!

Finally, we have Troy climbing one of the most difficult climbs on "Wall Street." He is almost to the top where I am already waiting for him. If only I had a wide zoom lens so you could see how tan and buff I...I mean WE look. More pictures to come!

Garbage Check

Troy was watching the girls on Wednesday. This is his day to feel motherly and make some sort of yummy dinner. If he doesn't feel motherly or the desire to cook then Wednesday is his day to hang out w/his girls and I bring home Chinese food! Anyway, Aeva was puttering around the house and persuing random acts of destruction. Troy heard some rustling noises over by the garbage and decided to investigate. He opened the lid and discovered one of Gracie's shoes. Somewhat funny until you start wondering what else she has thrown away. "Where is my i-touch, *#@^!?" Troy was forced to do a dumpster dive and assure that no other priceless possessions had been thrown into the garbage pit. Good thing he loves his girls.
