I wish I could turn these picture but alas, I cannot. Nevertheless, I must post about them because I am amazed at what Aeva is learning in preschool. She came home the other day with a clay sculpture of an animal that looked like this.
Of course Troy and I proceeded to praise her for her interpretation of a porcupine. When she told us it wasn't a porcupine we then decided it must be a poky kind of anteater. Nope. She then told us that it is an, Echidna. Apparently it is a type of anteater that lives in Australia. Who knew.
She also brought home this interpretation of the Great Barrier Reef that she had made.
This is, of course, a kangaroo. She also refers to them as marsupials or wallabies. I read a book to her about Koalas and she interrupted me to tell me that koalas are wallabies because they have a pouch. I am taking her word for it.
Aeva has also been talking about something called a Wombat. I originally thought she was saying "Guam Bat" and figured it must be a bat that lived in Guam. I just barely looked it up and realized it is actually a "Wombat" and it is not a bat at all. It is some fuzzy rodent type animal that also happens to be a marsupial and lives in Australia.
This is a picture of "Water Lilies and Japanese Bridge" by Claude Monet. Google the original (I had to) and you will see that this is not a bad interpretation. She learned about this when they were discussing Japan.
This is "Red Poppy" by Georgia O'Keefe. We have a budding little artist in the family. I am glad she is getting some culture from somewhere. All I can do is show her how to roast a marshmallow and ride the 4-wheeler.
