Temple Square

My cousin, Lexi, came out to visit for a few weeks this past summer. She was recently baptized and we thought there would be no better place to take her than to Temple Square.

Followed by a trip to the Gateway Fountains...a must with ever SLC trip.

Lexi and my Grandma Hazel.

Waiting for Trax to take us home.

Troy wasn't able to come with us. He texted us as we were on our way home. He had purchased some sugar cookies from Taggart's up by Morgan. He was threatening to eat them before we got home. This is the girls begging him to wait!

Aeva hasn't quite got the begging look down but it did the trick. Cookies were still in existence when we got home.

A fun day with the fam. We hope Lexi comes back soon.

The Legs

Our Sunday after dinner activity.  How is it that I am so easily entertained?

Triathlon Cheerleaders

Another triathlon has come and gone. This year I decided to "take a year off" in the name of laziness. I may have decided that cheerleading is the way to go...a lot less exertion, no need to wake up early, ability to eat lots of snacks as you watch. What is the downside here?

Anyhoo, Darby and Seleste were the athletes this year. Here we are with a "before" shot.

Followed by the "after" shot. Seleste likes to swim...

Darby does not.

This is my picture of them on the their bikes. Can you tell they were both there just moments before? The whole picture delay thing on my phone doesn't help with action shots. "E" for effort. I should also mention (in order to get a lot of sympathy) that I was quite hot by this point. Tiffanie and heat are enemies. Heat makes me not function properly.

Our next and previous generation of cheerleaders.

The approach to the finish line. I am pretty sure they did not maintain this brisk pace for the entire 3 miles. My butt sat on that rock for WAY too long. I was left with a large indent on my posterior.

They did it! Strong work, girls!

Any chance they will do it again? Time will tell...

Midtown Swim Party

My annual work party has come and gone. We had a blast!

Thanks, Midtown, for a great time!

Minnetonka Cave

We went up to Bear Lake over Raspberry Days weekend. The problem, we didn't know it was Raspberry Day weekend. We went up for Amber's birthday party and decided to head up to Minnetonka Cave. Anywhere in town had a 30 min line just to order food. So, we found this little place on the way to the cave and had us some fried up hamburgers with some fired up french fries and topped it of with a great big raspberry shake. I had the girls convinced that there was no chocolate in Idaho so that we could get the raspberry flavor. After all, who orders chocolate on raspberry days? They figured out I had tricked them shortly after but they were too late...I already had the shake in my hands!

When we got to the cave, we realized there was a 2 hour wait for the next tour. Danny's face pretty much sums up what we thought of that.

So, I scrounged around in the back of our car to see what possible activities I might find there. Thank goodness I didn't throw out my soccer box. We had enough boards, paper, pens and markers to plays some parking lot Pictionary.

I'm not even sure which team won but the two hours passed by quickly and we were off and running.

Aeva's feet got cold in the cave and all I had to cover them with was the back pack covers for the wheels. Worked out quite well.

Our attempt at a family picture at the back of the cave. As good as it gets.

Danny and Kati feeding Maddie water from the top of the cave. Possibly poisonous but we didn't want to test it ourselves.

The one stalagmite that you actually get to touch.

We made it out in one piece. Well, 5 separate but whole pieces (it's getting late, can you tell? My humor has gone south).

An awesome afternoon!

On the way home the girls reminded me that we hadn't even stopped at the lake (no beach this year). I pulled over and let them throw a few rocks. After all, you can't drive all the way to Bear Lake and not even touch the water!
