Zebra Dollars

Maddie's class has been earning zebra dollars all year long. They earn them for being nice, helping out and basically not getting on the teachers nerves.  Toward the end of the year, they get to have a "trade day."  This is a special day when they all make or bring stuff from home and then use their zebra dollars to buy said "stuff." Maddie has worked very hard this year and had hundreds of dollars to spend. Guess what all that hard work ended up buying her?

This is one of her many new treasures.  God bless the creative soul that thought of this.

Shake Out

We had an earthquake drill at work. I thought it was hilarious to see all of us crawling under desks.

Guess that's why I'd be dead right now if it had been a real earthquake.  I was too busy taking pictures  of doctors crawling around on the floor.

Troy's Mission Farewell

We went to Sunday dinner at Troy's parents house. His dad handed me this.

How's that for a flash from the past?  Helmet's mission announcement!

The announcement was stapled to his Farewell Sacrament Meeting program.  See the part that says "Special Prelude Musical No" by "Friends of Troy Haun."  That was me!  I was in that group of friends.  Didn't know he would be my husband 4 1/2 years later.  Good stuff.

Priceless Pics

I was looking through some old pictures.  January, 2006 to be exact. Makes me realize that I have a lot of pictures to go back and blog about. How can I not put these pics in our family history? That would be a true loss. Glad I found them today and I'm resolved to go back and get the rest. When you are blessed with an extraordinary family...cherish it.

Bath time with Aunt Kati and Aunt Autumn.

Chip eating in the hide out.

Bubbles.  Gracie is about to explode with excitement.

I look 18.  I was 31, with 2 kids.  And now...I look closer to 90.  Yikes.

Flowers showed up from somewhere.

I have to assume we were playing duck, duck, goose.

Lots of smiles floating around this room.

And one smile that we miss very much.

Good memories with good people.

Magic Show

We got invited to a magic show for a school fundraiser. Nope...not my kids school. Anyhoo, we were sitting there watching the show and all of a sudden the magician asked for a volunteer. Hundreds of hands went up. We were on the 15th row and somehow he saw Ms. Aeva raising her hand. Go figure. Well, she was elated and ran quickly down the stairs to the stage. The first thing he asked was, "Do you go to this school?" "NOPE!", she said quite happily. Yikes, I thought we might get stoned. The magician made it clear that she could go ahead and help him anyway as long as mom and dad made a generous contribution to the school.  "Ok!" she agreed.

She ended up helping him with 15 minutes of his show.  She would have gone home with the man if had let her.  She got to play with rabbits, make balloon animals, etc.  She was giddy with excitement. I tried getting some pics (from the 15th row). Wish you could see her face better. I've never seen a bigger smile. I did manage to get a lot of it on video.

She spent an hour the next day reliving her 15 minutes of fame.  Thanks, Mr. Magician...you made her year!
